It’s robot-fighting time!
My boys love BattleBots! Tombstone is obviously the favourite around here. The first season we all sat here stunned when he didn’t take the giant nut. So the 2nd season we were so happy when he actually won the whole thing. For Season 3 we were all anticipating whether Tombtone would be back as himself, changed out for another bot, or changed up in some way. We were so disappointed when it didn’t air. We have not given up hope we will still get our season 3.
Tombstone is the most often duplicated around our house. They are always trying to make their own bots that resemble Tombstone, or just make Tombstone themselves. So when we found out there was a Tombstone Vex Robotics kit out there….well there was some serious discussions about who should get it. We are still undecided.
They can build Tombstone with over 425+ snap together pieces! It is aimed at ages 9 and up, but I am pretty sure my 7yo will be able to figure it out too, and be wanting it for himself. The pieces snap together and it comes with instructions that are easy to follow.
This is really straight forward to put together and will be a hit for any fan of the show! Robot fans will like it too. Plus it encourages STEM based problem solving skills, and teaches kids how robot making can be fun, as well as battling them!
Our boys have learned a lot about how much problem solving skills are needed when making Battlebots. As well as thinking on your feet. They have had some of their designs fail, and learned that failing is a teaching and learning opportunity and not a catastrophic situation. I feel like these Vex Robotics kits will be great learning experiences, and I can’t wait for them to get them on Christmas Day!
