My youngest son will be turning 3 shortly, and was scheduled to get his tonsils and adenoids removed on April 1st, as they were causing him some serious complications. However, I received a call stating that we needed to change the date as it was a holiday. It got bumped up, and I was given less than 2 weeks to get everything done I had to do.
I am a planner, and it gave me fits that I had to get everything done in such a short time. I wanted to bring some things for him to do just in case he felt up to it. I also thought it would be fun if it was new stuff so that he would be intrigued by it if he was feeling miserable but bored.
A friend recommended that I contact Little Cool Toys, as they are a small Mom owned and operated Canadian Company with eco-friendly natural toys made of wood, organic and recycled materials. They have a huge selection of educational toys, beautiful wooden toys, really cool craft projects, unique hand crafted plush toys, super cute organic dolls and much much more.
As soon as I told her my predicament, she jumped into action! I got the package very quickly (next business day), and she even threw in something a little special just to cheer him up! What a pleasure she is to work with. All the items they have listed are so unqiue, and my boys would love many of them.
Here is the package I received:
I like the little touches she added in, like tissue paper wrapping everything, and also a little crocheted butterfly that just adds a touch of class.
This is a little car that she snuck in as a bonus. He loved it. It's just a little toy car, fits right in his hand and is made of bamboo.
Since my little guy loves stuffed animals, and he would need something that he could love on, we decided on this small rabbit. I like that it is small, so it fit in his hand, and could easily be carried along. Also his little back pack was jammed full of things we needed, and this tucked right in to a pocket. It was a great little fit for taking along. It is made by Maileg, and they have many different stuffies. I love that you can even buy an extra pair of Pajamas for him. It would have been perfect for going to the hospital with since was in his jammies the whole time.
His favourite thing was this Dunebug Sand Truck.
Green, innovative, battery-free and paint-free toys, made of made of SprigwoodTM, a durable bio-composite material made from recycled plastic and bits of reclaimed wood (great smell of wood!).
Sprig Toys can be played with indoors and outdoors, they are fun in the water and great toys for the beach.
This truck comes in a bunch of pieces, but can be used at the beach in the sand, and in water too! Of course it works just as well inside just playing without sand or water.
I have to say when I opened the box, and saw this:
I had my doubts he would get to play with this at the hospital! LOL I left the box home, but took pictures of the instructions that come on the side of the box. Taken apart it fit perfectly in our little back pack. When I was at the hospital, I got a migraine, and was barely functioning. My 2 yo, who just had his tonsils out, was raring to go! He wanted to play, play play, and eat, eat, eat. So I pulled out all these pieces...and with a migraine, my brain doesn't function well.... but voila! I got it together super easily. It's so easy to put together that my 3 boys have taken it apart and put it back together with out the directions.
This is my sweet boy playing with his sand track just hours after his surgery. This was at what was supposed to be his bed time. I was ready for bed, he was not.
Overall, I loved working with Little Cool Toys! They are a great company, and go the extra mile to put a smile on the customers faces. The products are natural, eco-friendly, and extremly good quality. I would recommend these for gifts, or just as a treat for your child!
You can find Little Cool Toys on Twitter, Facebook, and at their blog!

That is so nice of them! I love the little car, I bet my 2 year old would have a great time playing with it.

I love "green" type toys like some of those you featured in this post. They look like a lot of fun.
