Putting Paint to The Ultimate Test #Giveaway

When we first started planning the Summer Spruce Up Event, the first company I thought of as a perfect fit was Rona!

After all, when hubby and I got our first home, we spent a lot of time at our local Rona!  Seriously they started knowing us by name.  They recognized us and would ask us how our other projects had turned out, or that thing we bought worked for us.  I loved that they are Canadian owned.

I was thrilled (seriously you should've seen the happy dance) when they agreed it would be a perfect fit and made plans on working with us.  I have to say, not only are they a great store to shop at (which I will get into more in another post), but they are wonderful to work with too.

Myself and the other bloggers were each given a can of their new Rona Collection Smooth Velvet Paint and Primer in one.

We wanted something that says little boy as we were repainting our 2 year old baby's room.  Don't say he is not a baby, he is my youngest, and only 2, besides as my 6 yr old will tell you ...it makes Mommy cry! LOL He now says "It's Ok Mommy, he is a big baby".

We wanted something that would work now and in the future, so we went with their Aqua Fiesta colour.  It doesn't look the same in the pictures, it is a lighter blue with a hint of Teal to it (which is my favourite colour).

When we bought the house it was a little girls nursery, and I am not sure what they were thinking when they painted this wall in her room, since everything else was pink and girly:

I think Cleveland Browns when I see it??  Anyways, it was not for us, so when we were given the paint and primer in one, we new we wanted to put it to the ultimate test...covering up this wall.

In our old house when we had a room that was a dark saturated colour it took 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of paint to cover it.  So we weren't sure how the Rona paint would do.

The rest of the room was pretty neutral in a yellow colour:

My husband is the painter in our family, and he did 2 coats of the paint over all the walls.  The yellow walls look great and we didn't touch them again, but the orange and brown wall was still peaking through:

We painted the basement walls that were drywall and we did one coat of primer and 2 coats of regular paint. So a third coat of paint on this wall was not surprising at all. We were quite happy with it.

On one of the other walls hubby painted right over the wall compound and you can't tell at all. Over all we are very happy with this paint. The price is always great too whenever you buy Rona Brand products. We have always found them to be great quality, and a great value.

Here is the completed room:
