Featured Blogger: Rags to Stitches
I have been eyeing all her beauiful items for a while so when I put out the call looking for more interviewees, I was thrilled when she wanted to do this!
1. Tell me a little about yourself.
I’m a wife to an amazing hubby and a mommy of 2 beautiful children. I love Jesus, coffee, sewing, sneaking chocolate, date nights with the hubby and dance parties with my kids. I turned the big 3-0 last year and can honestly say last year was one of my favorite years to date. I love life and meeting new people and get excited about every new thing my kids do or discover. Oh, and I lived in Southeast Asia for 13 years of my life. How fun is that?!
2. How long have you been blogging?
I started my family blog in 2007 when I got pregnant with my daughter and instantly fell in love. It became an online journal for me and a way for me to document our life for extended family living far away. I began my Rags to Stitches Boutique blog in 2008 when my business was born. It was only last year that I really began “using” it to meet others.
3. What is your favorite thing about blogging?
The ability to express myself, although I’m always surprised the people read it and comment back. I’m always trying to keep it current, whitty and real. It’s a crafty outlet for me.
4. What is your main line of work currently? (e.g.: SAHM, Accountant, etc.)
I’m a wife and a mommy first and foremost, but when my kids are napping or snuggled in bed, I love to sew. I’ve owned Rags to Stitches for 1 year and a half and I love my little business!
5. Do you have any blogging pet peeves?
Hmmm. I really, really, really don’t like it when people cuss a lot in their blog posts. Or when blogs I love don’t post often enough. Hint, hint Josh {aka the brother}. He has an amazing food blog, but hasn’t updated it in months! Grr!
6. Do you have any giveaways coming up you would like us to know about? If so, what's the one you are most excited about?
I have a huge even happening on my blog from February 28-March 4. I have some amazing, missionary friends who are trying to adopt a baby from Korea. When they shared their story with me I felt God saying I have to get involved. So I put together a raffle event called The Paxton Project. I hope you’ll all check it out and get involved. We have 28 amazing vendors already involved that have donate items to be raffled off. Amazing!!
7. What led you to name your blog the name you gave it?
Well wanted something fun, and that would be a play on words. My hubby, being the entrepreneur that he is was a big contributor to my blogs name.
8. What are all the ways my readers can find you?
Well I’m a social media nut. I’d use the word whore, but it sounds too honest. Haha. You can find me on Twitter, Facebook, Storenvy, Etsy, at my family blog, or over at my Rags to Stitches blog. Whew! Told you I was an addict! I guess I should be a little embarrassed….
I am always looking for new bloggers and shops to feature so if you are interested in being featured, please email me at theknitwitbyshair at hotmail dot com. We can do your blog, your shop or both!!

The Perfect Brownie Pan Set Review
My hubby's grandmother recently gave us the Perfect Brownie Pan Set, as she didn't use it, but had saw it on sale and bought it. She knows I love to bake, so she shared.
The idea is that most people like the edges of brownies, so everyone eats the outside of the batch of brownies and lives the middle ones. Well my hubby loves the ones with no edges, so I wasn't sure what he would think at all.
Here are some progress pics:
The idea is that most people like the edges of brownies, so everyone eats the outside of the batch of brownies and lives the middle ones. Well my hubby loves the ones with no edges, so I wasn't sure what he would think at all.
Here are some progress pics:
The set all greased up, and how it looks without brownie mix.
Took out the cutter pour in the batter
Then you put in the cutter thing (before you bake)
This is what it looks like coming out of the oven
After it cools you are supposed to take the grid out and it is supposed to slide out easily. That didn't happen, a few stuck, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
Next you put it on the stand, and put the baking tray down. That was super easy, and nicely displayed.
Lastly I had to put the icing on. It wasn't really that easy to do. If you like your brownies with no icing than I think this would be a good set up, but I found it a pain in the butt to ice.
As for the brownies, my hubby likes the middle pieces, so we weren't sure we were going to like it. He said it wasn't a crunchy edge like normal the outside, so he still thought they weren't too bad. But I think he would be just as happy with a regular pan. If I am going to bring these somewhere I will probably use this pan. Otherwise, I think I will make them the regular way for our family.

Aw Shucks I'm blushing!
So usually when I am featured or mentioned on a blog it's because I have talked to the blog owner and we have set something up. However, I just got an email from one of my friend bloggers, discussing several topics (as is our usual), and low and behold at the end she says that she posted a little something about me, the other day. Somehow I must have missed it while checking her blog, and email newsletter!
I recently reached my goal of 500 gfc followers (and since have kept on rolling), but getting there was a lot of work. I was super excited about it, and Mrs. Shopper has told me she is excited for me, but this is what I found on her blog: http://www.simplyshopandsave.ca/2011/02/21/congratulations-and-happy-family-day/
I really expected something about our Mother's Day event we are still looking for bloggers for (email me if you are interested: theknitwitbyshair at hotmail dot com or comment below). I didn't expect something just about my reaching my goal! That is super sweet of her!
She always has some great giveaways going on, and is a smaller blog so the entries are low, but I am sure we can help her out, and I know you all love winning stuff!!

Nascar: Why I love Jr
So I realized that most of you know I love Nascar, and a lot of my tweeps do too, but very few know how I became a fan of his. I thought I would share this here, now.
Back when I was a teen, I would baby sit every Saturday night, and I would usually put the kids to bad, and then do homework, or whatever, and liked having the tv on in the background, but there was never anything good on. Sometimes I would find auto racing, which I never watched, but it was great for background noise, and didn't pull my attention away from my homework.
When I was watching the one time, one car in particular caught my attention:
I thought it was a really cool looking car, so I hoped he would win, and guess what he did! Woot! Everytime I found the race I would look for the #3, and hope he would win. Usually he did very well, keep in mind, I had no idea who this was, or anything about Nascar at the time.
Flash forward until February 18, 2001, I am then engaged, and hung out on weekends at my ILs a lot. My future BIL was a Nascar fan, and got a hold of the remote, he turned it on and we all groaned. He kept saying something about it being the Daytona 500 and that being a huge deal. We all rolled our eyes, but couldn't get the remote. All of a sudden, I saw the 3 car!
It was very evident we weren't going to be able to change the channel, so I figured I would go for that car. I told my BIL about how many years before I picked that car and he won. He was like "Uh, yeah, that's Dale Earnhardt!" I still had no idea what that meant. Of course, I now get it, he is a legend, but at that moment I'm like so???
Anyways, so during the introductions, they said he had a son in the race who was racing for his team, and so was another driver. So during the race I kept hoping for the 3, 8, or 15 to win it. I really wanted the 3 car to win, but thought it would be kind of a win, if his cars won.
Well starting the last lap, it was the 15 first, 8 second, and the 3 in 3rd and blocking everyone. I was totally sucked in too! Rounding the last corner, the #3 got turned into the wall, but the 15 won the race with the 8 in 2nd! I was so excited to see Dale Earnhardts son get 2nd, and thought he must be so proud, but upset he got into an accident.
Well, we will never know. That accident began a very dark day in Nascar History. Dale Earnhardt died in that accident.
I knew I was going to be a Nascar fan after that race, but what a race to actually become a fan because of it. Well now I was a fan, but didn't have a driver because the man I had picked just died. So like a lot of Dale Sr's fans, I looked to his son.
That was the start of being apart of Junior Nation, we have had our ups, and a lot of downs, but I wouldn't change drivers no matter what. I think he is an awesome role model, a great driver, and seriously a very strong man.
He watched his dad die in his rear view mirror, and knew he had to keep racing for his Dad's team. He handled the whole situation with grace and poise and a maturity that was just thrust upon him. He suddenly had legions of fans and media expecting him to fill his Dad's shoes, and he has done his best in his own unique way.
I am currently reading a book I have about him ( I have a few), it's pretty good and talks about his life since losing his Dad, and how he has become a superstar in his own right.:

Featured Shop: Rags to Stitches
I love this shop, she makes the cutest things!
1.Tell us about yourself.
I love to sew and create. I was a teacher before I was a wife and a mom and I feel that sewing helps me explore my inner creativity. I began by making baby items for my little girl after she was born in 2008 and my friends kept asking me to make stuff for them and their friends. After a little big shove from my husband, Rags to Stitches Boutique was born.
2. Tell us a little about your shop.
My little store consists of items to help the mommy on the go still feel like a fashionishta in the midst of spit up, boo boos and poopy diapers. I also have some fun items {crayon roll ups & ruffled aprons} for little kids too.
3. What got you started with your craft, and selling your items?
When I began Rags to Stitches my hope was just to meet new people, other moms, and make a few extra $$ so I could keep up my habit. Haha sounds like a drug addiction. Well have you seen some of the fabric out there?…. Ordering fabric is an addiction. I’m just saying. (Editor's Note: Agreed, that and yarn, and I can stop any time I want to...honest I can...really.....not a chance)
4. What makes your products unique?
I think what makes me unique is the fabric I use to create my products. I’m going to tell you all a secret. When I find fabric I love, I look at it over and over again throughout the day before I buy it. I figure if I love it after seeing it over and over, it must be perfect.
5. Where can we find you? (e.g. etsy, Facebook, twitter, blog, etc)
You can find me on Etsy, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and my Blog
6. What would be your criteria for a "successful" etsy shop?
Staying current, unique and striving to set yourself apart in the handmade community.
7. How did your shop name come to be?
I really wanted a creative name that people would remember. One that was a fun play on words. I think the uniqueness is how people remember me. Ok that’s what I’m hoping.
8. What product are you most proud of?
Well right now I’m loving my new Hoots line of owl boo boo bags. Check em out, adopt one. They are all looking for a good home!
9. Do you have any tips for bloggers or other etsy shop owners you would like to share?
I would say use your social networks to befriend new people. It will help you spread the word about your business organically. Never be afraid to make changes or find ways to grow. Stay current on your blog. Try to blog every day or every other day. Be real, let your personality shine through. Be willing to help others.
10. Is there anything else you would like us to know?
I love to feature other businesses on my blog through reviews, giveaways and tutorials so if you’re interested, email me: ragstostitchesboutique

Heck you see the same kind of thing just walking through the mail, so hopefully you won't be horrified by it just clicking on my blog.
So today's item that I want to tell you about isn't even that slinky! But it is sexy, and I think really really cute!
The website says:

This for That Ongoing linky
If you look in my side bar, just under the Giveaways (which you can enter if you want ;) ), there is a This for That linky.
Feel free to add any item you are needing help with. It is an ongoing linky, so I would appreciate an end date, or a goal to reach #, so that I can delete it (or you can) when it is reached. The idea is that we want to help each other reach goals that we have set for ourselves. I have added my goal that I am closest to reaching right now as an example. I am trying to get to 2000 twitter fans, and I need about 5 more.
Please pass it around about my linky so others can come and help us, and put in their items they need help with as well.

EyeQ Review and Giveaway
I am always looking for educational and fun things I can use at home to help teach my boys. I recently came across Eye Q Phonics.
It is a program that is to help teach my boys to read at home. I thought it would be fun to try and help my 4 year old to read.
When I received the package it really was much more items than I expected! But it all comes in this awesome binder-type package that holds each item, and it all easily fits back in the case!! You know you've had that product (many of them, I'm sure) where once you take them out of the package you have this awesome carrying case, with the product sitting on top of it for the rest of it's days! There is no way it's all getting back in. But this is not the case with this set. So here is what all comes in the package:
- Instructional DVD
- Getting Started Cards
- Manual w/ Phonics Lesson Plans
- Student Phonics Activity Manual
- Alphabet Songs CD
- Blue Alphabet Letter Cards
- Pop-out Letter Pieces
- Alphabet Picture Flash Cards
- 3 Blue eyeQ™ Phonics Pre-Books
- 10 Blue eyeQ™ Phonics Readers
- 10 Red eyeQ™ Phonics Readers
- 10 Orange eyeQ™ Phonics Readers
I loved this program b/c it was developed in a pre-school classroom by educators that dedicated over 20 years of research. The program worked hand in hand with the actual type of thing my son was learning in school as well! So I didn't feel like I was contradicting the teacher and confusing him.
The website says: The eyeQ™ Phonics program uses a multi-sensory approach, incorporating visual, musical, motor, and analytical exercises to learn correct reading fundamentals and achieve phonetic awareness. - Which means that they use all the things that make it fun for my 2 1/2 year to want to jump in. Whenever the boys see me get out the binder they run over and start singing the alphabet song. They try to guess what the next letter is we will be doing! They love doing the colouring after, and all the singing.
The Technical info from the site:
This program was developed to:
FIRST: Build a foundation of letters and sounds;
SECOND: Get your reader blending sounds to create words;
THIRD: Use both of these steps to begin reading books. . .AFTER JUST 8 LETTERS!!
Developed for early readers ranging from age 3 to 7, the eyeQ™ Phonics program uses visual, musical, motor, and analytical exercises to incorporate different learning techniques. These techniques ensure children are learning correct concepts through proper phonics instruction.
The multi-sensory learning approach that eyeQ™ Phonics teaches develops self-confidence at an early age, encouraging your child to WANT to read. This program creates a great bonding experience for the parent and child, which is a huge factor in a child's success in reading.
This worked great with my oldest!! He is 4, and he is doing great. The 2.5 yr old (who is younger than the recommended age), didn't pay that close attention to everything, but he does know all his letters. He knew those already, but now thanks to this program, he knows what sounds each one makes. Also, he now comes up to me and says a word and then tells me what it starts with. I am quite impressed by this, and will keep going over the program with him as long as he wants to. Sooner or later, he will pay more attention and be able to read. As long as he loves it and is having fun, than it is great!
I would highly recommend this for homeschoolers! Also for Mom's who just want to get their kids get a head start on reading, or need a little extra help. It's a great program and it's really fun for both Mom's and kids. I found it really easy to use, and I have no teaching experience. They are also found in a lot of school`s and preschools! So this could be a great addition to your curriculum too!
BUY IT: You can try it in your home for 30 days for just $14.95 trial (plus shipping and handling charges). Or Purchase the whole kit!

Highest referring sites this week
I thought I would try a new feature, which is to give some love to my top referring sites for the week. So it may give them some traffic, or also it will show you where to post your giveaways!
- http://www.google.com/ - interesting since they didn't know I was alive to update my PR ranking (yes, there is some bitterness!
- www.online-sweepstakes.com - just started posting my giveaways here, seems like a good one for me.
- networkedblogs.com - not a surprise here, if you don't have your blog posting to your fb page, I highly recommend networked blogs.
- http://www.blogtopsites.com/ - just joined them, and they send out my blog posts at random times, so it reaches my followers at various times and I don't have to keep updating them!
- http://www.prizey.net/ - gotta update them more often, it seems to help
- twitter.com - I know some bloggers say they get no traffic from twitter, but it really does work for me. I consistently get most of my traffic from Twitter & Facebook.
- http://www.google.ca/ - again there is bitterness
- http://www.theknitwitbyshair.blogspot.com/ - I highly recommend this blog ;)
- rachelsgiveaways.blogspot.com - she has a giveaway linky, and I've never hooked up before, but I will be again for sure
- dirtytruthreviews.blogspot.com - another giveaway linky that I saw on twitter and just happened to put my links into, and here it is in my top 10!
Daytona 500 Baby!!
So, it has been a long off season, but today is the big day! Nascar is back baby!!
I love the start of a new season for many reasons. One of the main things is that I miss Nascar in the off-season, so it's nice to have it back and be able to chill on Sunday afternoons. I also get a lot done during the races.
Daytona
is always a good track for my favourite driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr., and the start of a New Year is always promising. I am really looking forward to this year, as the last 2 years as a Jr fan have been rough. However, Mr. Hendrick made some major changes in the off season that will hopefully help the entire organization, except for 5-timer Jimmie Johnson of course.
As a Jr fan, I am cautiously optimistic that Jr switching to the old 24 team, and now being in the same shop as Jimmie Johnson and the 48 crew, will be the jump start he needs.
A lot of people think that if it isn't a good year, Jr will be cut loose from Hendrick, but I doubt that truly is the case. Here is my theory on why: Jr is the Fan Favourite 7 years in a row and Jr Nation is a faithful group with a willingness to spend money on anything Jr related, no matter how he is running. No team owner (except for maybe Teresa Earnhardt who has personal issues with him), would be willing to part with a financial commodity like that. Also, he is a sponsor draw too, and let's face it that is huge in this time period. Also there is the personal relationships that Mr. Hendrick has with Jr, and had with his Dad. However, I don't think that on it's own would cement the deal, but I think that on top of the business side, would make it a stupid move for him.
So that's my thoughts at the start of the season! Now if you are a Nascar Fan and feel like tweeting with me about Nascar during the races, be sure to add my personal twitter account at: Personal Twitter Account
Enjoy the race and the new season!!
Boogity Boogity Boogity, let's go racing boys (and can we abolish the boogity now???)

So in case you missed it, the other day I posted a story about our snail situation, well I was doing a search on snails and I found this awesome article that I believe is the solution to my snail problem, and also a way to reach my goal of earning money for the year.
Whether a professional snail breeder or a just a snail owner looking to part with your pet, familiarity with the processes of snail selling will work to your advantage. Selling snails can be complex or easy, depending on your individual circumstances. Make your snail selling experience uncomplicated by following a few, common-sense rules of the trade.

Funny thing to note...if you do a search on amazon associates box, you will get the following items:

Last night hubby, and I were reading stuff on snails, and I guess he decided to do a search on snails on line b/c he showed me this pic:
Hee hee now I just need to find a reason for him to wear it, so I can justify it ;) I found it so fast, hubby hadn't even had a chance to close the pic yet!! LOL
Well gotta run! I am off to start get a magnifying glass so I can determine what
type of snails, we can have, as that is step: 1!!
(Is there anything that ehow can't teach me?)

Guest Poster: Samantha Harris
Samantha approached me about doing a guest post on my blog, as she doesn't have a blog of her own yet but she is working on it! I said sure, and let her pick the topic of choice as she wanted to write about health issues and mental health. So what does she pick?? Knitting of course! After reading her article, I totally agree with it, and in my life I have found a lot of this to be extremely true! Here is her article:
Knitting is more than a pastime and it’s more than a hobby. For some, knitting is a way of life, providing much needed income and stimulating friendly business between neighbors and local shops. For others, knitting is an escape from a hard, time-consuming life. Knitting as complementary cancer therapy is growing in popularity, and here’s why.
Knitting, often a relaxing activity, helps to reduce the risk of cancer and to minimize stress. Severe and chronic stress lowers the immune system’s ability to function properly, allowing tumor cells to grow. Knitting reduces stress and allows the immune system to do its job by fighting off malignant cells.
Knitting also serves as a pleasant and comforting distraction from chronic pain. For example, mesothelioma, a severe lung and stomach cancer, often causes chronic pain. Since mesothelioma symptoms are latent for 20-50 years, mesothelioma life expectancy is short. Those with terminal or aggressive cancers can find relief in knitting. In fact, the activity may actually promote the release of endorphins, which improve mood and block pain signals to the brain.
The creative product of knitting can be sold as a source of additional income for those who financially struggle because of expensive treatment and medication. If selling is not an option, the articles made are often stylish and can spark a bit of happiness when worn.
And finally, knitting circles promote wellness and help patients to battle cancer not only through the process of weaving yarn, but through the support that can be found by those in the circle. A caring, helpful group of knitters provides mental, emotional, and thus physical relief from the stresses and pains of fighting cancer. A regularly scheduled meeting time can also add structure and stability to the lives of those struggling with cancer.

Why I shouldn't let hubby pick the pets....
When I was younger we always had all kinds of pets, no cats, but we had: hamsters, a bird, a gunea pig, a rabbit, fish, and a dog...there may be more that I am not remembering now, but you get the picture.
I always loved having a dog, and planned on having one when I got married and had kids. However, when a dog person marries a cat person, you know there must be some sort of pet compromise. I always had wanted a cat, but it seemed like the missing link which would involve a very messy lesson in the food chain, so my parents decided against it. I decided I would let him have that one, and get a cat. Once we had kids I might be able to convince them they wanted a dog, and the battle would no longer be mine.
Well, on the way to the human society he says to me "have you ever thought of getting 2 kittens?", and not making him turn around the car right then was my next mistake LOL!
Anyways, he talked me into getting these 2 adorable little kittens:
It should be noted I know very little about snails, and since this jar of about 7 of them has come home I have been told some disturbing facts from my hubby....like these 7 snails who are currently living in a jar on my dresser that are the size of bread crumbs will be about 2 inches in size (ok I probably knew the size....but that seems quite large when there are 7 of them living in a jar on your dresser!!). Oh and did you know that they are both male and female, so they can reproduce on their own...and each one can lay a lot of eggs that will all turn into more snails...... did I mention there are 7 of them living in a jar on my dresser!!
Why do I have nightmares of us having a wall of aquariums with nothing but snails? Or sitting on the side of the road trying to sell snails?? Anyone want snails??

Well 8 years later here they are:
Cola - the 20+ lb cat
Coca AKA "The Runt" - 12 lb cat
I still love them, but seriously.....this is not what I expected.
Well recently I got an msn message that said "Do we want snails?" The obvious answer would be "Why in the heck would we want snails?????", but regretfully this is not what I said.

Featured Shop: Mummi Quilts
I had the opportunity to interview the owner of Mummi Quilts! You may remember the giveaway I had back in January. Check it our interview:
1.Tell us about yourself.
I am an artist. There is a canvas all around me waiting for me to create something beautiful with fabrics, oil paints, flowers in my garden... My grandchildren were the inspiration for me to re-start sewing baby blankets and accessories in a larger scale. I used to design clothes and sew them when I was younger.
2. Tell us a little about your business.
I have my studio outside of Toronto. I design and cut all the products. I have ladies helping me with sewing.
3. What got you started with this business?
I made a keepsake, photo transfer quilt for my grandchildren. Friends and relatives wanted one, there was a request for a diaper bag. Rest is history, Mummi Quilts was born.
4. What makes your products unique?
All the products are practical and trendy. I listen to my clients and take into consideration what they wish to see added or changed in a product. I like to use trendy fabrics partnered with silky soft chenille or faux fur, which everybody loves. You can have all the products personalized.
5. Where can we find you? (e.g. etsy, Facebook, twitter, blog, etc)
You can find Mummi Quilts on Etsy, Facebook and of course on our website. We also attend all the Baby shows around Toronto.
6. What would be your criteria for a "successful" business?
Happy repeat clients. Enough orders to make the long, long hours worthwhile.
7. What product are you most proud of?
The baby blankets which you can design yourself. I also love the new shoulder bag. A lot of WOW comments.
8. Do you have any tips for us you would like to share?
The work is never ending when you have your own business. If you are fortunate to have a family member to help you, it will be much easier. Do your research ahead of time on your competition and general demand. It will save you a lot time later on.
9. Is there anything else you would like us to know?
I appreciate your business and hope to hear from you with suggestions and ideas.

Featured Blogger: A Year with Mom and Dad
This is a new blogger I am just discovering myself :) Let's show our support!
1.Tell me a little about yourself.
I am a new mom to an 11 month old boy! I love to laugh, have fun, hang out with my hubby, drink coffee and eat chocolate. Preferably all at the same time! I love to read, write, bake, craft, and I do like the outdoors when the weather is nice – so we often go hiking or camping in the summer and fall!
2. How long have you been blogging?
I have actually been blogging since about 2003 when I started with LiveJournal, then switched to Blogger in 2005 with a personal blog A Writer Within – http://juliekieras.blogspot.com/ – and I started a couple other blogs to explore different topics. However, I got really committed to daily blogging in March 2010 when I started my new family blog A Year With Mom and Dad, and that is where I do the majority of my writing!
3. What is your favorite thing about blogging?
Connections! I love forming a connection with readers. I have several regular readers who are now friends and we talk, tweet, and Facebook regularly! It’s been a huge blessing, since I’m home all day, to have these gals to rely on when I have a question or a not-so-great mommy day!
4. What is your main line of work currently? (e.g.: SAHM, Accountant, etc.)
Previously I was an English teacher for the past 6 years or so… I taught 7th and 8th grades and loved it! However, I just didn’t feel that I could devote myself to teaching AND motherhood – I know some people are able to do it, but I know my personality would not handle it, because I stress too much! So now I am a stay-at-home mom, trying to find work as a freelance writer. Blogging has become my writing outlet and I love it!
5. Do you have any blogging pet peeves?
YES! Too many entries tasks on a giveaway and entry tasks that are worth like 20 entries each. Call me lazy, but I like entering giveaways to be simple and easy – a few different tasks are okay but I don’t have time to do 38 entries! J Another peeve of mine is when bloggers don’t use the spell check! J
6. Do you have any giveaways? If so, what's the most exciting one you have going right now?
YES! I try to always have a giveaway going on – my favorites are organic / cloth diaper giveaways. And I actually have SIX going on right now (4 ending 1/29 and 2 ending 2/1). The MOST exciting one I think is the Sustainable Babyish Wool Longies giveaway – because people are dying to get their hands on those lovely, squishy-soft wool pants for their babies! J
7. What led you to name your blog the name you gave it?
Well… my husband and I love the book Frog and Toad, and when we were pregnant, we saw the musical A Year With Frog and Toad, and we laughed because the characters were exactly our personalities. I am Toad – a spaz about everything and a bit forgetful. My husband is like Frog –calm, cool, a planner, not easily rattled, and always able to steer me back to sanity! J So we decided since we want to walk our readers through the years with us as we grow as parents, we would make a spoof off that title – and so we are A Year With Mom and Dad!
8. What are all the ways my readers can find you?
http://www.ayearwithmomanddad.com/, http://www.facebook.com/ayearwithmomanddad, http://www.twitter.com/ayearwithmomdad - I am also on Blog Frog, Networked Blogs, and Picket Fence.

Introducing Mom Boost Blogger Outreach Program
Simply Stacie has had a Blogger Outreach program for a while that I have been a part of, and I have gotten a couple of great tips, and an awesome PR connection because of it.
She has recently hooked up with a couple of other bloggers to launch Mom Boost Blogger Outreach program instead of her old program. I highly recommend getting involved, and following them on facebook, and twitter as well.
They are celebrating their launch with a great giveaway for gift certificates, and it is open WW. Check it out HERE.

Recipe: Banana Bread
Our baby loves bananas, so hubby has been buying a lot of them when he goes grocery shopping. I find they turn bad rather quickly and my 4 yo doesn't like "dirty bananas" only "clean bananas". So if then it is just the baby eating them and I end up throwing 1 or 2 in the freezer. To use up all the bananas I have, black and frozen in my freezer I pulled up a recipe given to me by a friend back in 2009! It is so yummy, and makes 2 loaves. My hubby can't eat bananas so when I make it I usually give 1 loaf away or freeze it.
Here is this yummy yummy recipe:
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups sugar
3 eggs
3/4 cup oil
2 cups flour
2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp allspice or cloves (I always use allspice as I have it on hand)
2 cups mashed bananas
1/2 cup nuts (optional: I don't put them in as there are too many nut allergies around and I like being able to just bless someone with banana bread)
1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional: not optional at our house, it's a MUST lol! - first time I did it b/c I had them and I thought it needed something if I wasn't putting nuts in...now I wouldn't do it with out)
Beat sugar and eggs until creamy. Mis in oil. Sift flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and all spice. Add to wet mixture. Mix in nuts and chocolate (if desired) and mashed bananas.
Pour into greased & floured bundt pan or 2 loaf pans.
Bake about 45-1hr at 350.

500 Followers Goal Reached and CSN Giveaway
On January 1st I had made up some resolution goals for 2011, for myself, and my blog. The first one one the list was to reach 500 GFC followers by the end of the year, and I started out with 303 that day.
It took me a lot of work and 7 months to get to 303, so I figured it was a reasonable goal, but one that would require quite a bit of time and effort to reach.
Well I am extremely excited to announce that just 1 month and 10 days in, I have reached the goal for the year!! I have been monitoring the number very closely as it was approaching 500, and when I just checked now it was 500! So I decided to sponsor a giveaway with a $45 CSN promotional online code that I had earned previously.
I am trying to reach my goals for the year, and also increase my followers so there are no mandatory entries, just optional ones! The more you do, the more possibilities to win!!
WIN IT - Remember to do the entry, and then post 1 comment per entry!

One90One Review
I love getting new clothes for my boys, but I find it really hard to find cute, or stylish boys clothing. So, when I find a company that focuses on just boys clothes, and has cool, funky, or cute clothes, I have to tell you all about it!
I had the opportunity to try out 2 shirts for my boys from One90One, they do have a men's site too!
Check out the ones they got:

The 2 on the outsides are wearing the One90One shirts.
I loved these shirts! They are so cute, and stylish. Also they were well made, and held up really well to rough and tumble boys! Sometimes after my boys wear a shirt, it is never the same again, LOL! But these look brand new even after they have been worn a few times, and really lived in.
They have sizes from 2T-20, so just after they get out of the baby sizes, you can start shopping here! I love that you can get many of the shirts in the different sizes, as my boys love having 1 each of the same thing! It makes them super happy when they all have the same thing, and I love it once in a while to dress them the same :) They aren't twins or triplets, so it doesn't happen often, but it is cute when you can.
This is called "Organized Chaos" - It perfectly describes my life, and my boys! LOL
I highly suggest you check them out! It is a really great site, with awesome clothes for boys, that is durable and stylish!
You can find them on facebook as well.

Tailor4Less Site Review
I was on one of my favourite blogs the previously (http://www.oneincome.com/), and entered a giveaway for tailor4less. I didn't win, boo! But she later posted that they were looking for bloggers to work with so I sent off an email, and low and behold they said yes!
Basically the idea behind the company is to get a clothing item, tailor made for you, for a less expensive price. The items are more business, or dressy items. I don't go to work anymore, so I don't really have any dress clothes anymore. When I go to church, or another dressier event, it is a depressing event trying to find clothes.
So today, I am going to tell you just about ordering from them, then once I receive my product I will review the actual item itself.
When you go to the site, you can choose Men's, Women's or Stylebook.
The Stylebook let's you buy all the items together for one collection.
Under Men's or Women's you can decide what item you are looking for: shirt, skirt, blazer, pants, accessories! The items themselves are really cute too!
You get to choose the collar, the cuffs, pleats, the bottom hem design!
Next you get to choose the fabric you want them to use!
You get to them decide on the colour of the collar, the colour of the inside of the cuff, what thread they use for fastening buttons, and outlining the button holes! It's like designing your own shirt without having to sew it up yourself!
The next thing you get to put your height and weight in, if you have a rounded belly, flat/rounded back, then it asks for all your measurements. The thing I really love is that for each measurement it tells you exactly where and how to measure it! I like being able to put in all my measurements because I have a long torso so I have a hard time finding shirts that cover my belly well, and fit me right.
It really is dummy proof!
I have to say I really loved shopping this way. I know it is going to be a shirt that fits me right, which is something I don't get very often. I really had fun too!
I would love for you all to go check it out and tell me how much fun it is! And what options you like best :)
Also be sure to check out their blog at: http://www.attitude4business.com/ it's newly launched. It has all kinds of great tips, and you can subscribe via email so you don't miss out on any of the new posts or tips!
They have ideas on how to dress for a job interview! I have worked in a recruiting agency, and this is something that more people need to know about it!
