Jack's Speech Assessment Update

On Monday Jack and I went to his Speech Assessment to see what comes next.  In our last session the facilitator gave us a package to work on, and our regular SLP is very happy with the package and how I am implementing it.

She did standardized testing with him.  Jack did so much better than the last time he did the test.  He even surprised me on some of the things he knew so that is good!  We have been working on all the things that he didn't do well with, and we are getting further each time.

She had 2 suggestions of which we could do in this next segment.  We could do a group the same as last time, where the facilitator leads the group and helps with the learning, or we could go in a group where the kids are more monitored by a facilitator.  We both felt he would more benefit from a group the same as last time.  I feel like he needs more of the facilitator led group, and he will be getting more of the other interaction when he starts school anyways.  So that's what we will be doing.

I am very proud of the progress he has made!

Ok so the last week or so of our lives has been insane!  I have been so far behind on my blogging, crafting, and really life.  I have a bunch of exciting reviews and giveaways coming up.  Most are for our awesome Back-to-school event which you won't want to miss, but some aren't and are just as exciting!

Ok let's give you a rundown of what happened. 

Sunday night I go over to my friend's house, across the street, to drop off a gift card for her hubby, and her plate since she gave us some food.  Well they were having their son's b-day party then so she told us to come over.  Well I had to get the boys!  That went past their bedtimes, so they were up super late.

The next day we had left over candy, and cake and all kinds of excitement, and the boys were all over-stimulated, and they ended up staying up late, and Jack woke up throwing up.  Tuesday, Jack was still sick and I was worried because the next day was his birthday.  He seemed fine for his birthday, but Daddy wasn't feeling so good.  And Wesley looked very worn out.  He then had a 101 fever! 

They got to bed late, and Jack even got sick without eating any cake!  Well all 3 of them were sick all day, and I took care of them all.  Well don't you know Thursday nite I got sick, and was sick all day Friday.  Luckily Saturday we all woke up feeling good.  Then Sunday night DH and Wesley got sick with a different bug!  They have been sick up until today.  Wes seems still off, but luckily Daddy is back! 

It has been very rough, but I think we are going to survive!  I am hoping to get everything back on track!

What is in your mail? July 13th Edition

Today I received the package from Born Free that I won!  They even threw in a few extra goodies for the boys!  I received my SpeechWay's Kit for an upcoming review/giveaway and Daysago counters for an upcoming review/giveaway as well!  These will be part of the Back to School Event, just 2 of the exciting items.....hmmmm I wonder what else we have in store???

Confession Time

Ok, so I have a confession to make, seriously, not to many people know this.  Ok maybe they do, and just pretend they don't because I am trying so hard to keep it a secret, but here goes.....

I don't want my DS to go to school in the fall!

Is it because he isn't ready?  Is it because he won't love it?  Is it because I need the slave labour?

NO!  Well ok maybe the slave labour is nice, but it's because I don't want him to grow up and go off to school.  Part of me is scared that with his speech delay he might have a hard time fitting in, part of it is that I am going to miss him terribly.  I love his silliness, and his brothers adore having him around.  But also this is one step into growing up and growing away from Mommy for ever!

I know we all have to do it, and I know he will still love me and all but seriously how did this happen so fast?

I even thought about homeschooling him, but that wouldn't be for his benefit, it would just be so I didn't have to send him to school away from me.

They are starting some schools around here to have full day JK and I really don't think he is ready for that personality wise, but 1/2 day I think he will do fine.

Every time I think about school I get teary eyed, this summer is already flying by too fast, and I will have to send him off to the big bad world.  Ok I am making myself cry now, so I will stop writing.  But I am sure you will all hear more than you want to about this in the next little while.

This is one of the reasons I decided to co-host the back to school event, b/c I really really am dreading this, and I think this will take my mind off of it, and actually get me excited about things.

Born Free Canada Customer Service Review

So back in May I won a giveaway on the Born Free Facebook Page. 

I waited and waited and hadn't heard anymore.  I forgot about it, until today when I saw that they were going to do another giveaway, I remembered.  So I put a note that I had one and hadn't heard anything....well that was 9 minutes ago.

I have already gotten a response on facebook, and the email was resent!  Apparently I missed the email when my laptop was having all kinds of problems.

I am so happy that they were so kind as to resend it, and not just pass it on to someone else.  Also, when it was brought to their attention they jumped into action so very quickly.  To me this says Great Customer Service, and a company I would for sure buy something from.  If they are that quick when it is something for free, then think of how great they must be for an order.

BodyCake Review and Giveaway

One day when I was bored I went through etsy just searching for random items just to see what I could find, as they have just about everything on there!  I came across the most delicious looking items:

and my thought was..."Who sells deserts on etsy??"

When I started reading the descriptions I realized this is BODYcake, and it is home spa items!  Those delish cupcakes are bubble bath!  The ice creams are bath bombs, and the dip is lotion!  Doesn't it look good enough to eat???  I know whenever I look at it I get hungry!

I sent her a message and to my delight she was interested in doing a review and giveaway!  For me, this is perfect because I don't do a lot of lotions and potions, but I love taking baths.  When I am in the tub, it is about the only place I am safe from boys! haha!  Hubby takes the boys, and Mommy can relax in the tub, with a lock on the door so if they sneak away to potty they don't come in to see me.

When they arrived, I was so excited!  I received some body lotion and one of the delicious looking cupcakes.

When I put this in the bath there were tons and tons of bubbles!  I couldn't believe it!  It also smelled so nice, the whole bathroom filled with a nice light smell of roses.  Usually if I have a lot of roses in the house it will give me a migraine, so I have to stay back from them even though they are my favourite flower.  This was such a gentle beautiful natural scent that I couldn't wait to get in.

After my bath my skin was so soft just from the bubble bath! 

Then I put on the coconut smelling body lotion, and it was nice and thick.  But it went on light and creamy.  I hate those oily feeling lotions, and this one wasI not oily at all.  She uses all natural ingredients so I wasn't afraid to go pick up the baby after worrying about what was on my hands.  For the rest of the day I would get a gentle whiff of roses from the bubble bath.  I really did feel so girly.

I know as Mom's we don't always get the time to ourselves, but we really need it, and so does our families.  We will be better Mom's and Wives if we take a break for ourselves.

Dinner Dilema

Every night making dinner for my family has to be my least favourite thing to do.  It's not that they are hard to cook for as they are all generally not too picky.  Hubby is the pickiest, and really he's not bad at all.  I just know not to make anything he considers too exotic, and if I do, only 1 exotic thing in the meal at a time.  He will eat it anyways but I can tell he doesn't enjoy it. 

What does make it such a dread is, I've never been a big fan of cooking.  I know a lot of people really do enjoy cooking, I am just not one.  I use to hate it with a pure passion, but now I am more just a non-fan.  If I won the lotto the first thing I would do with my money is hire a personal chef!

So what do you do to make life easier?  I just got a cook book to review for crock pot meals, and am always on the look out for easy meal ideas (if you have any please share). 

My boys love: pizza, pasta, and cheese.  If I can somehow incorporate one of those ingredients into a meal we have a hit!  So, we have taken to purchasing the ingredients to throw together a "homemade-ish" pizza.  I don't make any of the ingredients from scratch, but it's not frozen either.  It's easy and a big hit. 

I am also a huge fan of Rachael Ray.  I have a bunch of her books, and even her pots and pans, which I love!  She is the reason I went from hating cooking to just not being a fan.  She made it do-able for me. 

So what are your tips, tricks, or must-try easy recipes.

Too good to be true right??? WRONG!

Seriously, I followed the simple instructions the first time, and it worked right then!  First I do a sweep of Mistura across my cheekbones and it looks like I just put on some blush.   Then I sweep it over my face with the application brush and use it as a foundation, and it matches all my crazy skin tones well, and even outs my skin.  Then I do a few stipples on my eye lids, and lips and it changes colour for that too.  It is more the sun-kissed look, but is the look I really like and think works best for me.

I just throw my lip balm over my lips and it looks really nice like lipstick.  Although they do have a deluxe kit that comes with a lip balm as well.  I tried out the travel kit.

The travel kit is $19.99 on their site, and is worth every penny.  When I first saw it I thought, "Oh it's just a sample trial size and should last a few days".  I was wrong!  I have used it alot after the last few weeks (even when I feel lazy and don't feel like using any makeup), and it looks brand new!

I really do love this make up!  I plan on buying more if I ever run out LOL!

Today's Mail

My mail lady usually comes between 9-10 am, but today it took her until 2!  I couldn't believe she was so late...I think I know why!  Boy did we get mail.

Looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong Weekend

Today is the last day in our long weekend, and it has been a wonderful time together! 

Hubby got of Thursday for Canada Day, and took off Friday as a vacation day.  The boys have been loving having him home this whole time, and are soaking up every second they can with Daddy. 

It's been nice and like a vacation for me too, because I've gotten 2 sleep in days, which I needed since the baby is going through a non-sleeping at night faze.  Also, Hubby has been taking the boys a lot so it gives me a break.  Just having another person here to back me up, or to discipline them is also very nice.

I will be sad to have it end tomorrow morning and go back to the grind.

I am going to try to do a 40 book challenge with the boys.  We will read 40 books by August 30th.  Impressive right?  Ha!  most of their books have 10 pages LOL, but at least we are reading together, and there are a lot that we never get to.  So it will be 40 different books.  Here's hoping we do it!

Kidsmart Review and Giveaway - CDA/US

I recently did a Kidsmart party with a wonderful rep named Jayda!  I had not heard of the company before I met her, and when I was flipping through one of her catalogues I discovered I had heard of many of the products they sell before.

I like to get my boys educational toys as much as possible, although they would love anything with wheels, they do enjoy the simple toys.  I like getting all the name brand popular things too, but don't always have the time or money to do so.  That is what is great about Kidsmart!  Alot of the products all my Mommy friends talk about are carried by them!  They specialize in Mompreneur products, which I love.  Also, they try to carry as many good quality Canadian Mom or Dad products as possible! 

They change the product lines regularly to keep it fresh, and so you can always find something new to try! 

I have The Hooter Hider Nursing Cover:

 

I love this cover because it is huge!  It has a neck piece that is flexible, but stiffer so you can see the baby while nursing.  It also has a terry corner to burp the baby, and is machine washable!

Although they no longer carry this, it shows what kind of quality popular type of products they have on a regular basis. 

I also have the Kiddpotamus SwaddleMe:

My youngest loved this thing, and has since grown out of it.  I miss it dearly, but he is use to not being swaddled to sleep now so doesn't need it any longer.  Although he does kick Mommy when we sleep together now.

Working with Jayda is an absolute pleasure.  When I ordered from Kidsmart through her she answered all my questions, and is very knowledgeable about their current product line.  Canada Post lost my package, and Jayda was right on top of it, and contacted Kidsmart about the problem.  Even though they had no fault in the lost package, they quickly took care of the situation and resent the package!  Jayda stayed right on top of it, and when it was delivered, she followed up to make sure it was indeed delievered to me.  It was a real relief to know that I didn't have to stay on top of the sales rep, and that she was looking out for my best interest.
