Book Review: Cast of Characters by Max Lucado

I recently received my first book to review from Book Sneeze and I was very excited because when I am nursing the baby I usually can get in a little reading time.  It's not very long, but it is something I can do at the same time so I don't feel look around at all the things I need to do.  We both relax better this way.

This book is a closer look at the lives of the "Cast of Characters" from the bible.  When I first started reading he hooked me right in because he listed off a bunch of questions he has had about certain bible characters and what happened before a particular story or after.  What was going on in their heads?  Some were questions I myself had asked.  Some made me laugh, and then I wondered about that too.

Max has a very unique way of bringing their stories into modern times and making them relate to us, or someone we know.

At the end of each chapter are reflexion questions and I really think this book would be awesome for a home study group, but it also was good for me to reflect on personally.  If your family does bible devotions together, I think this would be a great book for that too, as older kids would be able to relate to some of the characters, and the parents wouldn`t always have to think of the questions to get the kids talking.

Overall I really found this book engaging, and it was really perfect for my put-it-down-pick-it-up approach.  I have never read one of his books before, but I will be keeping my eyes out for them now.

I have to admit his book did leave me with one question: Whatever happened to that cricket?
